Mimi Fariña at home on Alta Street

San Francisco, June 1966

After Dick Fariña's death in April 1966, Mimi moved to San Francisco, to an apartment on one floor of what had formerly been a private home on Telegraph Hill.

In 1974, Mimi founded Bread & Roses, a non-profit organization whose purpose was and is to bring free live entertainment to people in San Francisco Bay Area institutions -- from hospitals to senior centers to prisons. Today, Bread & Roses puts on 500 free shows a year by volunteer performers. For more information about Bread & Roses and its invaluable work click here.
