By 1967, Judy Collins was evolving beyond her folk roots and performing an eclectic repertoire that reflected her wide-ranging tastes. She did more than any other singer to bring Leonard Cohen's songs to a popular audience with her recordings of "Suzanne," "Bird on the Wire," "Story of Isaac," "Sisters of Mercy" and other Cohen compositions.
